Citizenship, Natural Born Citizens, and Naturalization

Citizenship, Natural Born Citizens, and Naturalization

What is citizenship? Who are citizens? Is there a definition of "natural born citizen"? How do you become a citizen through naturalization?

Believe it or not, most Americans do not know United States citizenship laws or what they mean. They have accepted the fatally flawed notion of what we call "birthright" citizenship today - that anyone born in the United States, without regard to their parents' citizenship status, is a citizen of this country. Why? Because 111 years ago, the Supreme Court delivered an erroneous opinion not grounded in reason or law.

This essay sorts out the facts and explains how citizenship is supposed to be acquired in the United States.

Jesus!

That was long! But very well written and very informative. Very interesting. So, being that I am a citizen, could I renounce my citizenship and still reside in the United States? How would that relate to taxation and use of state facilities and/or programs? So, are American Indians consider citizens if they are born to parents on a reservation and reside on that reservation?
